(English title: Lost in Transit ) is a critically acclaimed 1993 French comedy-drama directed by Philippe Lioret. It is most famous for being inspired by the real-life story of Mehran Karimi Nasseri, the Iranian refugee who lived in Paris's Charles de Gaulle Airport for 18 years. Plot Overview

Tombés du Ciel 1993, directed by Philippe Lioret - Time Out

Arturo soon discovers a hidden "microcosm" within the airport—a group of diverse, displaced persons living in the corridors and engine rooms who survive on their wits. These companions include a young African boy, an ex-mercenary, and a political refugee.

The film follows Arturo Conti (played by Jean Rochefort), a Franco-Canadian iconographer who has his passport, money, and even his shoes stolen while napping at Montreal's airport. Despite the loss, he boards his flight to Paris to meet his wife, Suzana. Upon arrival at Charles de Gaulle, he is detained in the international transit zone because he cannot prove his identity.
