: While on a movie set funded by mobster Julie "Baby Feet" Balboni, actor Elrod Sykes finds skeletal remains in the swamp. Robicheaux realizes this is the man he saw killed decades ago and tries to link the two crimes.

After his drink is spiked with LSD at a party, Robicheaux begins to have vivid hallucinations—or visions—of a Confederate army camp. He frequently consults with General John Bell Hood (Levon Helm), whose cryptic advice helps him navigate the moral complexities of the case.
