The story follows , an American heiress who marries Will, the Earl of Pembroke , a man she initially loves but who marries her solely for her dowry to satisfy his father’s demands. Following their wedding night, Will heartlessly abandons Victoria in the English countryside and returns to his scandalous life in London.
